Unbonded PC Strand Steel for 1*7 steel wire
PC strand consists of wires spun together in the same direction and with the same lay length. The PC strand product contains 2-wire, 3-wire and 7-wire strands. Low relaxation PC strand can be used for either prestressing or post-tensioning of concrete.
Feature: Low relaxation, High Tensile Strength.
Primary Functions
- Introduce Pre-compression: PC Strand is tensioned (stretched) using hydraulic jacks before (pre-tensioning) or after (post-tensioning) the concrete hardens. When released, the strand tries to shorten, compressing the surrounding concrete.
- Counteract Tensile Stresses: This induced compression counteracts the tensile stresses that develop in the concrete when the structure is loaded (by its own weight, live loads, etc.), significantly delaying or preventing cracking.
- Enhance Structural Performance: Prestressing allows concrete to be used more efficiently, leading to:
- Longer clear spans (bridges, roofs).
- Thinner slabs, beams, and sections.
- Reduced long-term deflection (camber control).
- Improved crack control and durability.
- Greater load-carrying capacity.
Prestressed concrete strand (PC strand) is a high-grade, low-relaxation, 7-strand steel cord used in the reinforcement and strengthening of pre-stressed concrete structures. Because it is used in critical applications, this strand consists of high-carbon steel with a high tensile strength, manufactured to the highest quality standards to ensure its durability. PC strand is available in several different thicknesses, ranging between .25 inches and .6 inches in diameter.
